Landscaping the CNoR Train Station Yard

With the restoration of the interior of the CNoR Train Station completed in 2021, AHS now turns their attention to landscaping the north side of the property. We hope to plant appropriate native plant species and will incorporate donations of plants from the local community. Aspects of permaculture will be worked into the plan, encouraging pollinators to visit the yard. Volunteers will also paint the north side of the train station in June.
Society members and friends have said how important it is for them to see their own perennials included in the station garden as we create new community space. Their donations of annuals and perennials are now planted in raised beds on the north side. Donated tables and benches could become features in years to come, creating places to rest, meet and visit.
Creating a community space for everyone to enjoy is important. Imagining and realizing community gatherings such as theatre or live music on the train station deck is something we look forward to with pleasure. We hope to see outdoor flea markets and other occasions at the train station soon!
